The positive displacement Cavro XLP Pump is a reliable workhorse for applications that require high performance liquid handling over a broad volume range. The pump’s low volume range – as low as 50 μl per stroke – is ideal for tissue or cell staining, offering easy transfer of samples and reagents to slides. The high volume syringe options (25 or 50 ml) are a good choice for LC-MS sample preparation workflows or point of care (POC) diagnostics.
For all volumes, precise microstepping enables smooth flow rate control.
The Cavro XLP also offers the largest selection of valves in the Tecan Cavro range, making it well suited to applications requiring multiple source fluids or sample injection against a positive pressure, such as flow cytometry sample preparation or chromatography, as well as microfluidics applications.
The Cavro XLP Pump is a fully programmable OEM syringe pump. It can operate as a standalone module or be controlled by an external computer or microprocessor to automate pipetting, diluting and dispensing operations from <5 μl to 50 ml.
Available with a range of syringe sizes and valve configurations to match specific application requirements, it offers a choice of valve materials to help ensure a longer life and broader chemical compatibility. This versatile 60 mm stroke OEM syringe pump offers reliable operation and pump speeds ranging from 1.2 seconds to 160 minutes per stroke for maximum flow rate control. Market-leading communication protocols allow the user to optimize liquid handling performance, offering full control of start speeds, top speeds and cut-off speeds, as well as programmable ramp-up and ramp-down rates.
The Cavro XLP Pump also incorporates an optical encoder for step loss detection, further improving process security. The pump’s firmware also includes valve and plunger move counters to help plan preventive maintenance and replacement of valves and syringes.
The Cavro XLP Pump communicates through RS- 232, RS-485 or CAN interfaces, with multi-pump arrangements of up to 15 modules using a single serial or CAN communication bus. Pumps are controlled via OEM or data terminal protocols at a rate of 9,600 or 38,400 baud for RS-232/485 or up to 1 MB for CAN.
The pump also provides two digital inputs and three outputs for TTL level signals that can be used for synchronization with external devices, further increasing integration flexibility.
This syringe pump is supported with Cavro Integration Kit or Cavro Fusion Software for rapid and easy set-up and evaluation.

The Cavro XLP 6000 Pump is a 60 mm stroke syringe pump that is fully programmable and can be used as a stand alone module or, when controlled by an external computer or microprocessor, can automate pipetting, diluting and dispensing operations in the 5 μl to 25 ml range.
The pump has been designed for ease of integration and low maintenance. The new hardware and firmware automatically detects the communication interface (RS 232, RS 485, or CAN) and communication protocol (OEM, Data Terminal). The Cavro XLP 6000 Pump also allows the user to reconfigure the pump to run different valve types and at different baud rates. The two digital inputs and three outputs for TTL level signals can be used for synchronization with external devices. Multi-pump communication is possible through RS 485 or CAN interface, addressing up to 15 modules through a single communication bus.
The Cavro XLP 6000 Pump family of products is UL recognized (standard UL61010A-1) and bears the UL designation label.
